Visa Information Visas are required to visit Australia. Information for visitors from outside Australia can be obtained at www.immi.gov.au/visitors/visas.htm or from your airline. From some countries you will need a “letter of invitation” to obtain a visa. We can only issue this once you have paid for your registration in full. Visit www.embassy.gov.au for a list of Australian Embassies. From the Immigration Department People seeking to attend or participate in a conference Australia should, in most cases, apply for a short stay business visitor visa (subclass 456) or its electronic alternative, the business ETA. The visa allows entry and stay in Australia for a period of 3 months. The approval/refusal of the visa itself remains solely with the overseas post where the application is made. An electronic travel authority (ETA) is available through participating airlines and travel agents when booking airline tickets. ETA Countries. The 977 ETA is available to people who hold passports belonging to: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong SAR, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan(a), UK(b), USA, Vatican, (a)Taiwan passport holders can be processed for an ETA only if resident in and applying in Taiwan. (b) UK passport holders whose nationality is British National (Overseas) can be processed for an ETA only if resident in and applying in Hong Kong SAR. Non ETA Countries In line with many other countries, in the current global security climate, visa processing will be quite stringent and delegates need to allow 4-6 weeks for application processing in the non ETA countries. Non ETA delegates need to apply well before your intended travel date, ensure that the application is complete and thorough, with as much supporting documentation as possible, and expect to come under a certain amount of scrutiny as a normal part of the visa assessment process. The World Index on Australia’s Immigration & Multicultural & Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA) website www.immi.gov.au lists the location and contact details of the Australian High Commissions around the world. New Zealand Residence - because Australia has special visa arrangements in New Zealand, NZ passport holders will be visaed on arrival in Australia and do NOT need to lodge a VISA application prior to the departure from NZ.
Insurance The registration fee does not include insurance of any kind. It is strongly recommended that you take out a travel insurance policy of your choice. AFAC/Bushfire CRC 2010, including the Event Organiser, will not accept liability for damages of any nature sustained by participants or their accompanying persons or loss or damage to their personal property.
